Sunday 9th November.Fond farewells to June after a hearty breakfast. Just up the road there is a museum dedicated to the Kauri tree and having already studies a guide book inJune's house we decide that we cannot leave the area without first going to have a look and it turns out to be a very good decision. Could have spent hours in there. Have taken masses of photos so you will have to attend the lecture tour to see them. It depicts the complete story of the pioneering days and has tableaus of how they lived and how they felled and processed the timber. It is only in here that one gets to understand the scale of these wonderful trees. Stunning collection of Amber (the gum that is excreated from the tree) William would love to see the collection of old chainsaws, log moving tackle, saw mills, catapillar tractor that revolutionary, steam engines etc. Will attach picture of a trunk and the chainsaw blade that was used to fell it. Must be well over 10 feet long. Long drive down to Lake Taupo in the hot springs area. Plan to sightsee the geysers in the morning.

Now that one would have really made you say 'OUCH' when dropping on a toe.
Does size matter? I suppose you will be wanting to trade in your 020 when you get home.
Looks like you keep hitting the jackpot- I'm very jealous.
